“Stars, hide your fires; Let not light see my black and deep desires.”

January 2019

Finally! The long-awaited DVD of Macbeth is available on this first day of February!

If you have been living in a dark cave without phone, internet and television, here's what you've missed: our dear Christopher Eccleston has gone back to his first love in the field of acting and is showing his impressing skills on stage.
For the first time in his long career, he made his debuts on the stage of the famous Royal Shakespeare Company Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon as the leading role of Macbeth, a brand new and modern version produced by Polly Findlay - who also was behind Antigone back in 2012!

The rehearsals started in January last year and the first performance was set in March. The play was in Stratford from March to September and moved to the Barbican Centre in London in October. The last performance happened on January 18. A whole year of playing Macbeth and improving both the play and his own acting skills.

Recording during a performance in April 2018 and broadcast in all the schools and cinemas across the United Kingdom, the footage is finally available for everyone all around the globe. The DVD includes the whole play as performed by the crew all along its course and some bonuses such as an interview with Niamh Cusack - who is playing Lady Macbeth - and a short movie entitled Who is Lady Macbeth?. You can order the DVD on the official website of the Royal Shakespeare Company or find it in their store in Stratford-upon-Avon if you're lucky enough to live around there.

’Something wicked this way comes...’
Returning home from battle, the victorious Macbeth meets three witches on the heath. Driven by their disturbing prophecies, he sets out on the path to murder.
This contemporary production of Shakespeare’s darkest psychological thriller marks both Christopher Eccleston’s RSC debut and the return of Niamh Cusack to the Company.
