Biography
Since his debuts,
Christopher Eccleston shows incredible acting skills whether it is on movies,
shows or plays. He himself admits that theatre is a much more rewarding
activity than playing in movies. Yet, he only played in a couple of plays
during his long career including classics such as Hamlet (2002) and Antigone
(2012). He won a National Television Award for his part as the Doctor in the
revival of the famous show Doctor Who
(2005) and was nominated for a Broadcast Press Guild Award and a BAFTA Cymru
Award for this same performance. He also won an International Emmy Award for
his part in Accused (2010).
More recently, he starred in the new BBC show Come Home (2018) and movie King Lear (2018) and was playing the leading part in Macbeth, the new production of Polly Findlay for the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Barbican Centre in London (2018 – 2019). In 2019, he released his memoirs entitled I Love the Bones of You in which he opened up about his relation with his father, the choice of his career, his battles with depression and anorexia. He is now working on his own production company called Correct Productions and will come back on telly as Maurice Scott in the third season of The A Word (2020).
