"So, what you're saying is, the entire world revolves around you." "Sort of, yeah."

Biography

Christopher Eccleston is a British actor who has played in many movies and shows. He was trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London. His professional debuts were on the Bristol Old Vic stage in the famous production of A Streetcar Named Desire as Pablo Gonzalez in 1988. His first big part in the cinema industry was for the movie Let him have it – based on a true story – in which he was playing Derek Bentley, a young illiterate and epileptic adult who had been unfairly hung for the crime of his friend, in 1991. His performances as David Stephens in Shallow Grave (1994), Nicky Hutchinson in Our Friends in the North (1996) and Jude in Jude (1996) made him a big name in the English acting world.

Since his debuts, Christopher Eccleston shows incredible acting skills whether it is on movies, shows or plays. He himself admits that theatre is a much more rewarding activity than playing in movies. Yet, he only played in a couple of plays during his long career including classics such as Hamlet (2002) and Antigone (2012). He won a National Television Award for his part as the Doctor in the revival of the famous show Doctor Who (2005) and was nominated for a Broadcast Press Guild Award and a BAFTA Cymru Award for this same performance. He also won an International Emmy Award for his part in Accused (2010).

More recently, he starred in the new BBC show Come Home (2018) and movie King Lear (2018) and was playing the leading part in Macbeth, the new production of Polly Findlay for the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Barbican Centre in London (2018 – 2019). In 2019, he released his memoirs entitled I Love the Bones of You in which he opened up about his relation with his father, the choice of his career, his battles with depression and anorexia. He is now working on his own production company called Correct Productions and will come back on telly as Maurice Scott in the third season of The A Word (2020).

All good things come to an end.

Dear members of the Eccleston crew, and followers of Daily Eccleston,

There always comes a time in life when you have to take difficult decisions in order to move on. You must have noticed that I wasn't updating as much as I used to. It's not from a lack of news, although it has been pretty quiet in the Ecclesphere in the past few months, but from a lack of time and energy. There have been big changes in my life (leaving a toxic relationship, being blacklisted by all the friends we had in common, living at my sister's since then, turning 30, having absolutely no idea what I'm doing with my life, fighting depression and anxiety...) and I find myself unable to keep feeding you with Eccleston news as I used to.

It hasn't been an easy decision, but it is for the best to stop there instead of adding the guilt of not being able to keep you updated as regurlarly as I used to on my shoulders. I still love Chris, I'm still following his career and checking his news but it's impossible for me to work on the blog anymore. For now. Maybe I'll come back to it one day, in better times.

If you have Twitter and Instagram, you can follow @DailyEccleston. I'm often retweeting/sharing stuff about Chris, but also fanarts, cosplays, etc..

See you soon (maybe)!
